PATCHOULI – THE PLANT
Scientific name: Pogostemum Cablin. Description: Shrub of the Lamiaceae family. Origins: Tropical zones in Asia. History: Many references about popular medicinal use of the plant: in China against nausea, headache, common cold, diarrhea and abdominal pain, while in Malaysia and Japan as an antidote to snake poison.
Antiseptic, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, relaxing, antihistamine.
Inflammation, eczema, skin and allergy disorders, abscess, cuts, wounds, scars. As vasculostimulant, it fights against varicose veins, heavy feet and edema. Effective against symptoms of menopause (hot flashes, sweating), nervous breakdown, depression, stress, hypertension and mental strain. It helps regenerate the cells of the dry, hardened and chapped skin (heels, elbows) by softening it, and it fights against wrinkles and ageing. Provides relief from insect bites.
